Lotus berthelotii es una fanerógama leguminosa endémica de los pinares de la isla de Tenerife . Nombres comunes: Pico de Paloma
Descripción
El pico de Paloma es una planta perenne herbácea. Las flores son de color rojo brillante y están adaptadas a la polinización por pajaros como el resto de las especies de lotus de la sección Heinekenia. Las hojas son filiformes y glaucas, dandole a la planta un aspecto gris brillante. Su altura es variable, de 5-20 cm, ocasionalmente más donde se apoye en otras plantas; los tallos pueden alcanzar más de 1 m de long.
La especie se encuentra en grave peligro de extinción, según los criterios de la UICN se encontrarÍa en la categoría CR.
